Membership:
ANY woman (including women of other denominations) may become a member of the United Methodist Women who accepts the Purpose and is willing to participate in the work of the membership each year through prayer, giving, and service.
Motto
I am not afraid of tomorrow for I have seen yesterday and I love today.
Fellowship
This year started with a successful Souper Bowl of Caring. On Super Bowl Sunday we collected funds which were donated to the Samaritan Center. I should say the children in our Sunday School collected it after both services.
The Samaritan Center, a daytime drop in center for the homeless located at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, continues to be the recipient of our outreach. Throughout the year we collected socks, flashlights, batteries, umbrellas, blankets and other items to make our brother’s and sister’s lives a little easier.
We continue to hold “Feeding Church” every Saturday night of the year. We are serving an average of 50 meals each time. Dinner is served each week by a group of dedicated and loving workers. One week each month the dinner is served by our local Jewish Synagogue.
We are also, blessed to be able to be a part of the P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter), which provides overnight shelter to the homeless during the fall and winter months. We share the duties of providing overnight volunteers with St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. In addition to a warm safe place to sleep, our guests are given a breakfast every Sunday morning.
We want to thank all of the members of the congregation who have donated their time and talents to the community. Each of you is a blessing to someone, by volunteering at the hospital, Samaritan Center, Care and & Share, Feeding Church, P.A.D.S. or in the thousands of small acts you do each year. You are reaching out to our community and truly showing your loving hearts.
